East Greenbush · Same-Day Service · Booking Now
Local drain clearing, rooter, camera inspection and sewer-line repair for East Greenbush homes — same-day service Mon–Fri, licensed and insured since 2006.
Local drain & sewer, done right
East Greenbush is a mix of historic core, postwar neighborhoods and rural east-end roads, and each one brings its own drain and sewer headaches. In the older parts of town — the historic center and the postwar Hampton Manor, Clinton Heights and Clinton Park neighborhoods — homes are commonly on aging clay, cast-iron and (in some mid-century lots) Orangeburg laterals that crack, sag and fill with roots. When that happens you get slow drains, a gurgling toilet, or a main line that has to be snaked every few months. Store-bought drain cleaner won’t touch it.
That’s the work an East Greenbush crew handles every week: power-rodding a clogged kitchen or main line, running a sewer camera to find exactly where a clay or Orangeburg lateral has failed, hydro-jetting roots and grease out of the line, and repairing or replacing the lateral instead of guessing. We’ve been licensed and insured since 2006, and we can usually be out the same day Monday through Friday, with after-hours dispatch when a backup can’t wait.
One thing worth clearing up: the combined-sewer overflow problems you read about in the Capital Region belong to the “Albany Pool” cities — Albany, Cohoes, Rensselaer, Troy, Watervliet and Green Island. East Greenbush is not one of them. The developed town runs on a separated municipal sanitary sewer treated at the town’s own plant on Columbia Turnpike and discharged to the Hudson. So in East Greenbush, basement backups aren’t a city CSO problem — they’re driven by root intrusion, grease, failing laterals and high water table, which is exactly what we diagnose and fix.

Hampton Manor: a homeowner near the lake was snaking the main line every couple of months. We camera'd the lateral and found a cracked clay joint full of roots out near the curb tree lawn. Hydro-jetted the line clean, cut the roots, and quoted a spot lateral replacement at the failed joint so the recurring backup stops for good.

Clinton Heights: a pre-1960 home took water into a low, damp basement after a wet stretch when the lateral backed up. We cleared the line, then installed a backwater valve on the main lateral and added a battery-backup sump pump to keep the high water table out of the basement going forward.

Couse Corners (rural east end): a home on private septic had slow drains throughout the house and a soggy area over the drainfield. We scoped the line, confirmed the system — not an interior clog — was the problem, pumped it down, and walked the owner through drainfield repair options on a property with no municipal sewer to tie into.

Sherwood Park: a 1990s home off Sherwood Avenue kept backing up at the kitchen and laundry every few weeks no matter how often it got snaked. We camera'd the line and found a belly — a sagging low spot in the buried PVC out under the side yard — where grease and water kept pooling and re-clogging. Hydro-jetted it clean, then dug down to that one section and re-set it to proper grade so waste drains through instead of collecting and the backups stopped coming back.

Good to know
In most of East Greenbush’s older neighborhoods — the historic core, Hampton Manor, Clinton Heights and Clinton Park — the sewer lateral is clay, cast iron, or in some lots Orangeburg, and the joints crack with age and let tree roots in. Snaking shears the roots off for a few weeks, then they grow back. We run a sewer camera to find the bad joint, then recommend either root cutting plus a hydro-jet or, if the line is failing, a spot or full lateral replacement so it actually stops.
No. East Greenbush is on a separated municipal sanitary sewer treated at the town’s own plant — it is not one of the Albany-Pool combined-sewer cities (that’s Albany, Cohoes, Rensselaer, Troy, Watervliet and Green Island). In East Greenbush, wet-weather backups are usually a failing or root-clogged private lateral plus a high water table, especially near Hampton Manor Lake and the Papscanee and Hudson flats. The fix is clearing the line, then a backwater valve on the main lateral, often paired with a battery-backup sump pump.
Yes. Homes out toward Best, Luther and Couse Corners and the rural roads near Schodack are off the municipal sewer and on private septic. When the whole house drains slowly or you’ve got a wet spot over the drainfield, the problem is usually the septic system rather than an interior clog — we scope it, confirm what’s going on, and handle pump-downs and drainfield repairs instead of just rodding a line that isn’t the issue.
In most of East Greenbush the town maintains the main sewer running under the street, but the lateral — the pipe from your house out to that main — is the homeowner’s responsibility, and that often includes the portion out under the road. So when a line backs up, it’s almost always on the private side. Before anyone digs, we can run a camera down the line and show you exactly where the trouble is and whether it sits before or past your property line.
Often, yes. If the failure is one bad spot — a cracked joint or a crushed section — we can usually do a targeted dig at just that location instead of trenching the entire run. A camera inspection tells us how much pipe is actually bad; if it’s corroded or offset end to end, a full replacement is the honest call and we’ll say so. Either way we show you the footage and give you both options with real numbers, not push you toward the bigger job.
Across the area
We also handle drain and sewer work across Rensselaer County, including nearby Nassau, Schodack and Troy, plus the surrounding Capital Region towns.
