Older home in the Village of Nassau where the homeowner was snaking the main line every few weeks. The camera found a cracked clay joint full of maple roots about eighteen feet out under a mature yard tree. We hydro-jetted the line clean, cut the roots back, and handed the owner the footage with a spot-repair quote for the failed joint instead of digging the whole lateral.

On the older laterals around the Village of Nassau, East Nassau, and the hamlets, the line is usually aging clay or Orangeburg pipe, and Nassau’s mature trees send roots straight into the cracked joints. A cable or rooter clears the blockage, but the roots grow back.
