Those are classic signs of a failing drainfield or an overdue pump-out, and since most of rural Schodack is on private septic regulated by Rensselaer County DOH, it’s the first thing we check. We inspect the tank and field, identify whether you need a pump-out or a repair, and plan any work to county standards.

The Town has sewer districts via agreements with the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson and the Town of East Greenbush, so a septic-to-municipal tie-in is possible for homes near those lines.
