The Town itself operates three small public water districts, all fed by town-owned wells. Then there’s Castleton-on-Hudson, on its own municipal supply wells and a village sanitary sewer with a dedicated wastewater plant and five storm outfalls to the Hudson. So whether your concern is a short-cycling well pump, a failing leachfield, or a basement that backs up, the right fix depends entirely on which Schodack you live in.

Heating here is a fuel story before it’s an equipment story. Town-wide, the majority of homes still burn delivered fuel oil or propane, with natural gas reaching only a smaller share along the corridor and village; East Schodack runs almost entirely on oil and propane with almost no gas mains, while Schodack Landing, hugging the river-and-rail corridor, is where natural gas is most common. That means there’s no one-size heating pitch for this town.
