Your local team
Nassau isn’t just a town we service — it’s where Empire State Plumbing is based. Our shop sits at 3725 US-20, so when something goes wrong in a home here, you’re calling the local team that already knows the ground: old housing, private wells and septic systems, oil and propane heat, and slightly acidic village water that’s hard on pipe. We’ve been the Capital Region’s family-run plumbing, heating, cooling, and drain shop since 2006, and Nassau is the one address on the whole map where “local” is literal.
That local knowledge matters because Nassau is older stock on older infrastructure. About a third of the homes in town — 34% — were built in 1939 or earlier, and roughly half predate 1960, with the median home dating to 1961. That shapes nearly every trade we work here. On the plumbing side it means galvanized supply lines, corrosion from acidic well water, and a lot of homes outside the village running on private drilled wells. On heating it means oil and propane, not natural gas — fewer than 2% of homes in town are on a gas main. On drains it means septic systems and lakeside groundwater, because there’s no municipal sewer out here. And on cooling it means older homes with no ductwork, where a ductless mini-split is often the cleanest path to real comfort.
The pitch is simple: one call covers the whole house. We diagnose honestly, quote up front, pull the permits the work requires, and offer financing through Acorn Finance on the bigger jobs. Pick the trade you need below and you’ll land on the full Nassau page for that work, with real local detail and a way to book.
We cover the whole Town of Nassau, from the Village of Nassau in the center out to East Nassau along NY-66 on the eastern town line, the lake communities at Nassau Lake and Burden Lake, and the hamlets — Alps, Brainard, Denault Corners, Dunham Hollow, Hoags Corners, Jack's Corners, Millers Corners, and North Nassau. Whether you're on village water in the center of town or on a private well out in the hamlets, you're in our same-day range, Monday through Friday.

NassauWhole-home repipe in PEX for a pre-1940 home in the Village of Nassau — corroded galvanized supply lines were running brown and choking pressure upstairs. We replaced the supply runs, pressure-tested the system, and added an acid-neutralizer to raise the pH of the slightly acidic village well water and protect the new piping.
NassauHigh-efficiency oil furnace replacement for a Hoags Corners home heating on oil — the original unit was decades old and short-cycling through the cold months. We swapped in a properly sized high-efficiency oil furnace, serviced the burner and tank connections, and got the home back to steady heat ahead of a hard freeze.
NassauDuctless mini-split AC install for an older Nassau home with radiator heat and no existing ductwork — instead of tearing the house apart for ducts, we set a multi-zone ductless system to cool the main living spaces and bedrooms, adding real summer comfort without a forced-air retrofit.
NassauSeptic backup and sump work at a Nassau Lake property — cleared the backup, inspected the on-site septic system, and set a reliable sump and backwater protection to handle the high groundwater that comes with a lakeside basement. No municipal sewer out here, so the fix was on the home's own system.
From a clogged drain to a no-heat call or a new install, book online or call. We answer Monday through Friday and dispatch same-day across Nassau.

Good to know
Yes. Empire State Plumbing is a full home-service shop, and Nassau is our home base at 3725 US-20. One call covers plumbing, heating, cooling, and drain & sewer for the whole house — water heaters and repipes, oil and propane furnace and boiler work, ductless mini-split and central AC, and septic, drain, and sewer-line service. Pick the trade you need from the grid above to see the full Nassau page and book.
Oil and propane. Heating-oil is the largest fuel here at about 51% of homes, with bottled and tank propane second at about 25% — natural gas reaches under 2% of the town because there’s no gas main through most of Nassau. We service and replace high-efficiency oil and propane furnaces and boilers, handle tank and burner work, and cover no-heat and run-out calls through the long winter. Where the rare gas main does reach a home, we can talk through an oil-to-gas conversion.
Absolutely — that’s the norm out in the Town of Nassau. Most homes outside the village run on private drilled wells and on-site septic, and a big share of our work here is well and septic service: well pumps, pressure tanks, whole-home water treatment, and septic inspection, drain-field, and replacement work. There’s no municipal sewer in Nassau, so backups here are septic and groundwater problems, and we handle the sump and backwater protection that goes with lakeside and rural basements.
Almost certainly not. The State’s Lead Service Line Inventory for Nassau came back 100% non-lead — there are zero lead service lines in town. Where lead can show up is inside the home, on older fixtures and solder joints, because the slightly acidic village water (pH 6.6) is corrosive enough that lead was detected at one of ten home taps tested, traced to interior plumbing. So this is about inspecting your interior fixtures and adding point-of-use filtration where it helps, not replacing a service line. We’ll check your interior plumbing and tell you exactly where you stand.
Yes. A lot of homes here heat with radiators or boilers and were never built with ductwork, so a ductless mini-split is usually the cleanest way to add real cooling without tearing the house apart for ducts. We size and install ductless systems zone by zone for the rooms that matter, and where a home already has ductwork we install and replace conventional central AC. Either way, Nassau’s cooling season is shorter than downstate, so we frame this around comfort and humidity control, not brutal-summer fear.
Yes. Nassau is our home base, so it’s the easiest place on our map to reach. We dispatch same-day across town Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Call early and a live tech gives you a real window — we answer, we show up, and the work goes on record with the permits it requires.
