In the Capital Region, any water line running through an unheated space — a crawlspace, an exterior wall, a garage ceiling — is at risk once we hit a real cold snap. We start by finding exactly where it froze, then usually fix it with some combination of pipe insulation, rerouting the line to a warmer path, and heat tape on the worst stretch.
