Schenectady · Same-Day Service · Booking Now
Central AC and ductless mini-split installs for Schenectady's older homes — local, licensed crews delivering same-day service Mon–Fri since 2006.
Local cooling, done right
About half of Schenectady’s housing was built in 1939 or earlier, and most of it was heated by steam or hot-water boilers and cast-iron radiators — which means homes in the Stockade, the GE Realty Plot, Bellevue, and Goose Hill were never built with the ductwork a central air system needs. For those houses, a ductless mini-split is the realistic way to add cooling without tearing open plaster walls to run trunk lines.
Where ductwork already exists — the post-1960 forced-air homes out toward Woodlawn and Central Park Estates — we install and replace central air-conditioning systems sized to the house. Either way, we tell you straight whether a mini-split, a central system, or a multi-zone setup is the right call for your home, your layout, and your budget.
We’ve been licensed and working Capital Region homes since 2006 (City of Albany Lic. #PLBG21-147), we offer financing through Acorn Finance, and we run same-day where we can, Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 6.
What we handle
Every service below links to the full page for that job. We keep one canonical page per service rather than a thin copy for each city, so you get the real detail.

Installed a three-zone ductless mini-split in a pre-1939 home in the Stockade — radiator heat, no existing ductwork — to cool the main floor and two upstairs bedrooms without disturbing the historic plaster and trim.

Replaced an aging central AC condenser and coil on a 1960s forced-air home near Woodlawn, right-sizing the new system to the house so it runs longer, quieter cycles and keeps the humid summer air dry.

Added a single-zone mini-split to a finished attic in a Mont Pleasant two-story that had no way to get conditioned air upstairs, plus a basement dehumidifier to dry out a damp stone-walled cellar.

Tracked down a central AC in a GE Realty Plot colonial that ran all day but never cooled the house — the trouble was a slow refrigerant leak at a corroded evaporator coil. We replaced the coil, cleared a clogged condensate drain that had been backing up onto the furnace below, then set the charge by the book so the system holds temperature through the worst of the summer heat.
From a quick repair to a full replacement, book online or call. We answer Monday through Friday and dispatch same-day across Schenectady.

Good to know
Yes. Most older homes in the Stockade, GE Realty Plot, and Mont Pleasant were heated by boilers and have no ductwork, so a ductless mini-split is the way to add cooling. One outdoor unit can feed multiple indoor heads, and we size it to your rooms during a free estimate.
It comes down to ductwork. If your home already has forced-air ducts — common in post-1960 houses near Woodlawn and Central Park Estates — central air is usually the better value. If it doesn’t, a mini-split avoids the cost and mess of adding ducts. We’ll look at your home and tell you which makes more sense.
We run same-day where we can, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Call (518) 482-4205 and we’ll get a licensed tech out to your Schenectady home as soon as the schedule allows.
Nine times out of ten it’s one of a few things: low refrigerant from a slow leak, a dirty condenser or evaporator coil choking off airflow, or a weak run capacitor that’s letting the compressor limp along. We check the actual refrigerant charge and airflow before we say a word about replacing anything, because plenty of ‘dead’ systems just need a coil cleaning or a single part. If it does turn out the unit is undersized or worn out, we’ll tell you that plainly and show you what we found.
Once a year, ideally in spring before the first real heat wave. A cooling tune-up means we clean the outdoor coil, check the refrigerant charge, test the capacitor and contactor, and clear the condensate drain so it doesn’t back up and shut the system down mid-July. Catching a tired part in May is a lot cheaper — and a lot less miserable — than losing your AC on the hottest day of the year.
Across the area
We also install and service cooling systems just outside the city — in Niskayuna, Rotterdam, and Glenville.
